The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from being a simple rifle owner to being a true rifleman. All throughout American history, the rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting a man-sized target from 500 yards away — no ifs, ands or buts about it. This 500-yard range is traditionally known as "the rifleman's quarter-mile;" a rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. This skill was particularly evident in the birth of our country, and was the difference in winning the Revolutionary War. The BURLINGTON FLATS FISH AND GAME CLUB supports the REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERANS ASSOCIATION and their APPLESEED PROGRAM. For more information you can contact the club officers or go to the Appleseed web site (WWW.appleseedinfo.org). |

Fantastic time had by all and shooting skills improved greatly. I can tell you that this webmaster, who has now gone to two Appleseed Shoots, again learned even more, and will be back again in the future for another. There were more people than this group picture shows present. A number had obligations on Sunday, April 18th and could not attend the second day. We are glad they came even if it was only for one day. Next time we will take the group picture at the end of the first day. Our instructors Steve Stoner, Adam Bell and Ashley Kearney who are our own club members were truly professional, providing instruction at a pace matching the needs of both the novice and experienced shooter. Their knowledge of the Revolutionary Wars history demonstrated that a great deal of time and effort had been spent. They presented the material in a way that keep the interest of even our youngest member. Their detail to proper firing line procedures and above all safety could not be improved. As a result our club gained three new RIFLEMAN and two of these decided to except an ORANGE HAT and make the commitment to become future instructors themselves.
